Goodnight Nurse formed in Melbourne in 2004, with Sarah Goodnight on vocals, guitarists Dan Cribb and Stu Mackenzie, bassist Mark Goodnight, and drummer Jarrod Sealey. Their name came from a 1960s Australian television series. Their debut single "All Hail The Serpent Queen" became an early calling card, and they released albums like "Goodnight Nurse" in 2006, "Keep Me on Your Side" in 2009, and "The Goodnight Nurse Is Dead" in 2012.
Sarah Goodnight's lyrics sometimes touched on themes of female empowerment and social justice, which drew attention. The band's catalog includes songs like "A Shadow And A Prayer," "All For You," and "Death Goes To Disco." They worked with artists like Against Me! and Frank Turner.
By 2012, they had put out three albums and built a following with their punk and rock sound. The lineup stayed consistent through those years, with Sarah Goodnight's voice and presence at the center of their shows.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
