Goonlord is a heavy metal band fronted by vocalist and guitarist Matthew Harvey, who goes by the name Goon. They formed in the early 2000s in Rockford, Illinois, pulling together musicians drawn to extreme metal styles. Their live shows were known for being raw and confrontational, which helped them build a reputation quickly.
In 2007, they put out their debut album, also called "Pariah." The record got positive reviews for its aggressive guitar work, heavy drumming, and Harvey's intense, emotional singing. The title track "Pariah" became something of an anthem for listeners who felt on the outside, dealing with themes of alienation and personal struggle.
After that first album, Goonlord kept putting out records, including "Death Defier" in 2009, "Into the Dross" in 2013, and "Apex Predator" in 2018. Their sound shifted a bit over those releases, but they stayed rooted in metal's heavier, darker corners.
