GP formed in 1995 around frontman Guilherme Panetto, guitarist Fabio Lagali, and bassist Andre Oliveira. Their debut album 'É Só Você Dizer Que Sim' came out in 1997, with the title track becoming a major hit in Brazil. That song, a pop-rock ballad about unrequited love, established their early sound.
They followed with albums like 'Não Quero Ser Mais o Seu Herói' in 1999 and 'O Mundo Que Eu Quero' in 2001. Songs like 'Birdcage' and 'Bodas de Sangre' continued in their ballad style. In 2004, the band had a legal dispute with a former manager over royalties, which led to a brief pause in activity.
Panetto was diagnosed with depression in 2010. The band has released over ten studio albums, including 'Pra Sempre' in 2003, and their catalog includes tracks like 'De Você Como Ninguém' and 'Destroy, So As To Build'.
