Gralha Azul

Gralha Azul formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, with Rodrigo Guedes, Pedro Caetano, and Daniel Santiago coming together around a mix of samba and rock. Their 2003 single 'Gralha Azul' became something of an anthem, blending those styles with a psychedelic touch that caught on with younger listeners in Brazil.

They released their debut album 'Saravá' in 2004, followed by 'Futungo' a few years later. Songs like 'América' and 'Pitanga Madura' show the band working within that same general territory of Brazilian rhythms and rock instrumentation, without settling into one predictable pattern.

Some of their lyrics touched on social commentary, which drew occasional criticism alongside their more experimental musical choices. But they kept recording through it, putting out albums that maintained a consistent thread while letting the arrangements shift from track to track.
