Archive material and source history

Gray Matter came out of Chicago in the early 1990s with a sound that leaned into alternative rock. Their debut album, 'Everything's Different Now,' arrived in 1993, built around Adam Duritz's vocal delivery and songwriting. The band's lineup included David Bryson on guitar, Dan Vickrey on drums, and Tim Flannery on bass.

Their second album, 'Too Much Fun' from 1999, featured the track '4 A.m.,' which became a notable single for them. They followed it with 'Now You See Inside' in 2003, then 'The Lost Girls' in 2009. Other songs in their catalog include 'Fill A Void,' 'Crisis And Compromise,' 'Flash In Time,' and 'Burn No Bridges.'

In 2015, they released a compilation called 'The Distance' with remastered versions of earlier material.
