G.R.C.E.S Beira Rio da Nova Guará formed in 1996 in the Nova Guará neighborhood of Brasília. They're a samba group that has worked through the typical challenges of community music organizations, like finding rehearsal space and keeping members together.
Their 2009 samba-enredo "Humano Coração Humano, Símbolo das Emoções, Máquina da Vida" became their most recognized work. They also created "Samba-Enredo 2007 - Mazzaropi: o Artista do Povo do Circo Ao Cinema, a Simplicidade de Um Gênio," which honored the Brazilian comedian and filmmaker.
These samba-enredos follow the tradition of Brazilian carnival music, where groups create elaborate theme songs for their parade presentations. The 2009 piece in particular explores human emotion through its title and lyrics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
