G.R.C.E.S. Primeira da Aclimação is a samba school from the Aclimação neighborhood in São Paulo, Brazil. It started in 1964, put together by a group of people who were serious about samba. They had some early trouble with money and getting noticed, but they kept at it.
In 1999, they put out a samba enredo called 'Aclimação No Coração, 18 Anos de Emoção.' The song was written by Marcio André and Léo Reis, and it caught on. It's one of the songs people still know them for, along with others like 'Samba-Enredo 1997 - Dinheiro Na Mão É Vendaval, Só Não Faz Chover' and the 2010 samba about Bexiga.
They've recorded a number of albums over the decades, including ones marking anniversaries like 40 and 50 years. The school has had musicians like Mestre Dionísio on drums and Nega Maria singing and playing percussion. There have been some claims about financial problems in more recent times, but they're still around.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
