Gregga formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s around vocalist Vânia Abreu, guitarist Guto Barros, and drummer Edvaldo Portela. They started playing locally, drawing attention with their mix of influences and Vânia's voice.
In 1996, their debut album 'Chamei de Amor' gave them a national hit with the title track. The song, written by Vânia, connected with listeners and helped establish the band's presence in Brazilian popular music.
The lineup changed at times, with Guto Barros and others coming and going while Vânia remained the constant center of the group.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
