Archive material and source history
Grego Riquicho formed in 2003 as a trio with Gregório Riquicho on vocals and guitar, Diogo do Valle on drums, and Robson Arantes on bass. They came out of Rio de Janeiro's underground scene, where Riquicho had previously played in a local band called Os Moleques.
Their 2005 single "Arrependido" broke through to a wider audience. The song's direct lyrics about regret connected with listeners and helped establish the band. They followed it with other tracks like "Porque Isso?" and "Volta Para Mim."
In 2007, the band was involved in a legal dispute over the unauthorized use of "Arrependido." Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for how they handled social issues, though some listeners appreciated their straightforward approach. They released several albums including Deixa Eu Te Amar in 2007 and O Mundo Dá Voltas in 2010.
