G.R.E.S Foliões de Botafogo is a samba school from the Botafogo neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1980. They create samba-enredo songs, which are the theme songs used during Carnival parades. Their work includes tracks like 'Samba-Enredo 1996 - Brasil, Mostre Suas Artes Marciais' and 'Samba-Enredo 2000 - Palmares Em Festa'.
One of their notable compositions is 'Samba Enredo 2004 - Um Conto Tapajó-madeira, Foliões Enfeitando a Fauna Brasileira.' The song tells a story about the Tapajó and Madeira rivers and celebrates Brazilian wildlife. Reinaldo Marques has been involved as a vocalist and composer for the group.
They released a debut album called 'Foliões de Botafogo' in 1999 and later put out 'O Canto da Sereia.' Their music follows the tradition of Rio's samba schools, blending percussion and vocals for Carnival performances.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
