G.R.E.S Império da Uva

G.R.E.S Império da Uva is a samba band that formed in 1933 in Rio de Janeiro's Morro da Mangueira neighborhood. They're known for creating samba enredos, the theme songs that accompany Carnival parades. Their 2002 song 'O Amor No Carnaval' became one of their better-known works.

Their catalog includes songs like 'Samba Enredo 2018 - Dos Trilhos da História, Queimados Na Estação do Futuro' and 'Samba-Enredo 2019 - Rainha Nzinga, Símbolo de Resistência Africana.' These follow the tradition of using Carnival music to tell stories, whether historical or contemporary.
