G.R.E.S.V Embaixadores da Águia formed in 1954 when a group broke away from an existing samba school in Rio de Janeiro's Vigário Geral neighborhood. They took the name Embaixadores da Águia, which translates to Ambassadors of the Eagle.
Their samba enredos, the narrative themes for their Carnival parades, have sometimes addressed social and political topics. Recent examples include 'Samba Enredo 2021 - Salve a Negritude Feminina!' and 'Samba Enredo 2020 - Um Carnaval Dos Deuses: Sagrado Pra Quem Pratica, Divino Pra Quem Festeja.'
They've faced financial limitations at times, but continued performing. The group blends traditional samba rhythms with contemporary influences in their music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
