GRIND formed in Mexico City in 1989, started by brothers Emilio and Marco Gómez. They played grindcore, a style that took cues from bands like Napalm Death and Brutal Truth. Their first album, "Maldito sea tu nombre," came out in 1994 and got them noticed for its aggressive sound and lyrics that often took on political topics.
One of their songs, "El Patrón," led to some trouble in 2002 when the band was arrested after performing it. The track criticized the treatment of indigenous communities. That incident didn't slow them down much, it seemed to draw more attention to what they were doing.
They've put out nine albums over time, including "Adios al Tercer Mundo" in 1996, "Gringo Pendejo" in 1999, and "Orgullo Nacional" in 2007. The lineup has stayed pretty consistent, with Emilio Gómez on vocals, Marco Gómez on guitar, Arturo Huizar on drums, and Jesse Hernández on bass.
