Gris

Gris is a French duo that surfaced in 2014 with a debut single called "Il Était une Forêt...". The pair consists of Renart on lead vocals and guitar, with Lou providing backing vocals and keyboards. Their sound tends toward the atmospheric, pulling from folk and ambient textures more than straightforward pop structures.

They followed that initial EP with a series of albums: À l'Ombre des Saules in 2016, Les Contes de Gris in 2018, and De l'Aube au Crépuscule in 2022. Other tracks like "Le Gala des Gens Heureux" and "Na Madrugada" show a similar preference for mood over momentum, often circling themes tied to nature and memory.

While their music has found some international listeners and occasional placement in film or television, Gris has largely maintained a low profile. They haven't chased a clear commercial lane, which has sometimes led to questions about their direction from critics. But they've kept releasing records on their own terms, letting the hushed harmonies and layered arrangements speak for themselves.
