de hele zaak is een zonde.
Vandaag de dag gaat dat niet meer,
dat mag je niet meer zeggen.
Maar hoe moet een dominee, lieve Heer,
de zaak nu uit gaan leggen?
De avond daarna dan komt de pastoor
die eens met ons gaat praten.
Hij vindt het kan er nog wel mee door,
maar hou het in de gaten.
Want ook voor hem is het moeilijk,
want vroeger was het verfoeilijk.
Maar nu moet er water in de wijn,
nu moet hij voor gaan lichten.
Maar voor een pastoor zal dat moeilijk zijn,
zo'n zaak te gaan belichten.
De humanist heeft de volgende beurt,
die zegt zelfs vieze woorden,
zodat heel Holland zachtjes kleurt,
want zulks is erger dan moorden.
Maar hij heeft toch iets eerlijkers,
hij zegt: er is niets heerlijkers.
We komen er doodgewoon rond voor uit,
dat mag zo vreemd niet heten.
En zelfs moet de allerjongste spruit
elk detail reeds weten.
