Grupo 770 formed in 1994 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. They started as a quartet with Anthony Santos on lead vocals, Juana Martínez singing harmonies, Luis Vargas on guitar, and Rubén Cordero playing the güira. Their early years involved financial struggles before they found their footing in the bachata scene.
In 1999, they released the album "Frente a Frente," which included their breakthrough song "Sólo Queda Llorar." The track became a hit, helping the group reach wider audiences across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Vargas left the group in 2004, and Santos had a temporary departure around 2010, but the original lineup eventually reunited.
