Grupo Acontece formed in Mazatlán, Mexico in the late 1990s with Aldo Franco on vocals, Javier Villaseñor on bass, Francisco 'Paquito' Topete on drums, and Jaime Topete on keyboards. Their 2001 single 'Amor Dividido' became a breakout hit in Latin America, establishing them in the banda genre.
In 2002, the band faced legal trouble when they were detained in a police raid for alleged drug possession, though charges were eventually dropped. Five years later, drummer Francisco Topete died in a car accident, after which Everardo Modesto joined on drums.
They released several albums including 'Puños de Diamantes' in 2003 and 'La Cita' in 2005. Other songs like 'Dá um Tempo' and 'Nobreza' continued their focus on relationship themes. Aldo Franco remains the group's vocalist.
