Grupo Agamamou formed in Salvador, Bahia around the mid-2000s with vocalist Dada Yute, bassist Marcio Fortier, guitarist Djalma Lúcio, and drummer Marcelo Barbosa. Their sound drew from reggae and various Afro-Brazilian rhythms. They released their debut album 'O Amor Venceu' in 2007.
Their 2010 album 'A Felicidade É Um Dom' gave them their breakthrough. The title track became a hit in Brazil. Other songs from their catalog include 'Faz de Conta', 'Nada É Pior', 'Não Vá', and 'Natural'.
In 2012, a fire destroyed their recording studio. They rebuilt and kept working. The band faced plagiarism accusations in 2015 regarding 'A Felicidade É Um Dom', but these were later dismissed.
