Archive material and source history

Grupo Bonanza came out of Monterrey, Mexico, playing romantic ballads that found an audience in the late 1980s. Their 1987 album 'Entre Nosotros Dos' gave them their breakthrough, anchored by the title track 'Entre nós dois' which became one of their most recognizable songs. The band's lineup included Arturo Góngora on lead vocals, Juan Mario 'Mayito' García on bass, Sergio Rodríguez on accordion, and Juan José 'Coco' González on drums.

Their sound leaned on Góngora's vocals and Rodríguez's accordion, which gave their ballads a traditional Mexican feel. Other songs like 'Não Se Engane' and 'Me Diz o Que Fazer' followed a similar pattern of straightforward romantic themes. They released albums periodically through the 1990s and early 2000s, including 'Sueño Contigo' in 1992 and 'Alma y Corazón' in 2001.

In 2002, Arturo Góngora was involved in a serious incident that interrupted the band's activity for a time. They had released a compilation called '20 Años' in 1997 marking two decades together, and later put out 'Sentimientos' in 2006. Their music stayed in rotation on Mexican radio, particularly the ballads from their earlier albums.
