Grupo ÉD+

Grupo ÉD+ formed in Rio de Janeiro, blending samba and MPB with what they called cinematic soundscapes. Their 2004 album 'Cena de Cinema' gave them their breakthrough, anchored by the title track that became something of an anthem. The band included Rodrigo Maranhão on vocals and guitar, Eduardo Souto Neto on bass, Daniel Jobim on keyboards, Thiago da Serrinha on drums, and Rodrigo Tavares on saxophone and flute.

Their debut 'Cinemateca' arrived in 2002, followed by the more experimental '3' in 2007. They returned to a samba focus with 2010's 'Ponto de Fuga' and explored Brazilian heritage on 2013's 'Nação'. Other notable songs from their catalog include 'Video Clip', 'Grava Essa Ideia', and 'Juras de Paixão'.

Some critics felt the group moved away from their samba foundations as they incorporated electronic elements and filmic textures. But their approach found an audience, and their music has been used in films and television. They've worked with artists like Gilberto Gil and Carlos Lyra along the way.
