Grupo D'Boa formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1999. Their debut album 'Axé Bahia' came out that same year and found an audience quickly. The band's original lineup included Cláudia Leitte, Durval Lelys, Xanddy, Ivete Sangalo, and Tomate.
In 2002, Ivete Sangalo and Tomate left to work on solo projects. The group kept recording and performing, putting out albums like 'Tô Pagando Pra Ver' in 2002 and 'Grupo D'Boa' in 2004. Their song 'Sandalias da Humildade' became particularly well-known.
Cláudia Leitte and Durval Lelys have been the consistent presence through the band's changes. They released 'De Volta ao Começo' in 2010.
