Grupo Édem formed in 1993 with members Kelly Rosa on lead vocals, Beto Cisotto on guitar, Edinho do Recife on vocals and percussion, Ricardo Cruz on bass, and Ivan Mendes on drums. Their debut album 'As Cores do Mundo' came out in 1997 and included what became their signature song, 'Mundo Multicor'.
That song, 'Mundo Multicor,' drew some criticism for its inclusive message, which some felt diluted a traditional Brazilian identity. The band stuck with it anyway. They followed up with albums like 'Édom' in 2000 and 'Um Novo Tempo' in 2003, and later put out a live record in 2010.
Other songs in their catalog include 'Não Me Engana,' 'O Samba Ou Ela,' and 'Sou da Madrugada.'
