Grupo Geração

Grupo Geração formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1980s as a quartet with Emerson Pinheiro on vocals, Marcelo Carvalho on guitar, Kadu Mota on bass, and Leo Pinheiro on drums. Their debut album came out in 1986, and it included what would become their signature song, 'A História de Nós Dois.'

That track, along with others like 'Prós e Contras' and 'Melhor Amiga,' helped establish their sound, which mixed traditional samba with more contemporary influences. The group faced some internal tensions and creative slowdowns in the late 1980s, but they kept working.

In the early 1990s, they released the album 'Retratos' with a refreshed lineup. It was seen as a return to form, featuring songs that connected with their audience again. They never quite recaptured the early spotlight, but their music from that first period, especially 'A História de Nós Dois,' remains familiar to many Brazilian listeners.
