Grupo Kid formed in São Paulo in 1957 with Wilson Simonal on vocals and guitar. They put out their first album the next year, and songs like 'Você Teve Sua Chance' and 'A Batucada de Estilo' became hits in Brazil during the early 1960s.
Simonal was arrested in 1969 over a kidnapping case that turned out to be false. The band's momentum stalled for a while after that. They kept playing and recording, but never quite recaptured that earlier run.
Their music has found listeners again more recently. You can still hear 'Firme Como Elefante' or 'Volta Pra Casa' on Brazilian radio, and their records have been reissued.
