Grupo Kyara came out of Bahia, Brazil in the early 2000s, playing a style of music called Axé. Their first album was called "Chegou a Hora" in 2003, and the title track became a hit. The band's singer was Carla Cristina, and Karyne Lage played guitar.
They had a song called "Coisa Boa" that dealt with domestic violence, which got some attention from conservative groups at the time. There was also a legal dispute over the rights to "Chegou a Hora" in 2004, but the group kept going.
