Grupo Pagode formed in 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, with Leandro Lehart on vocals. They started playing local bars and festivals before signing with a major label in 1998. Their debut album 'Grupo Pagode' came out around that time, featuring tracks like 'Fico Assim Sem Você' and 'Faz Um Ano.'
Their 2002 album 'Daqui Pra Frente' gave them one of their signature songs, 'Daqui Pra Frente,' which became widely popular. Another track, 'Deu Mole,' also gained attention. The group's sound draws from pagode and samba traditions with some pop touches.
The lineup has included Leandro Lehart on vocals, Rodrigo Maranhão on guitar and vocals, Serginho Herval on bass, Cássio Camilo on surdo, and Rodrigo Santos on pandeiro. In 2009, Lehart faced domestic violence accusations, which he denied.
