Grupo Pàntanal formed in 1988 in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, drawing from the musical traditions of Brazil's Pantanal region. Their sound often incorporates chamamé, a lively folk style from southern Brazil, and their lyrics reflect life in that wetland area. The band's founding lineup included Celinho Silva on vocals and accordion, Leandro Borba on bass, Robson Ribeiro on percussion, and Gilberto da Eira on guitar.
Their song 'A Moça do Chamamé' became a signature piece for the group. Over time, other musicians like vocalist and keyboardist Marcio Nigro, drummer Bruno Guimarães, and percussionist André Aguiar joined the band. They also collaborated with artists such as Almir Sater.
In 2007, a fire destroyed their rehearsal space and equipment, but they rebuilt and continued performing. The group has released albums including 'Sambaqui,' 'Além das Fronteiras,' and 'Terra Pantaneira.'
