Grupo Pataço came together in Salvador, Bahia. Their 1999 album 'Estrela Muchacha' gave them their first real break, with the title track becoming a song people knew. The band's lineup included Emerson Pinheiro on vocals, Anderson Ricardo on guitar, Anderson Cássio on bass, and Everton Silva on drums.
They followed that album with 'Caminhos do Amor' in 2002 and 'Sonhos' in 2005. Another song of theirs, 'Saudades do Rancho', also found an audience. Their music often worked with the rhythms of samba and themes that felt familiar in Brazilian pop.
In 2008 they put out 'Raízes do Samba', a record that leaned more deliberately into traditional sounds. They recorded a live album in their hometown two years later, called 'Ao Vivo em Salvador'.
