Grupo Só Emoção formed in Rio de Janeiro's favelas in the late 1990s, with Betão as their vocalist. Their sound mixed Brazilian rhythms with pop, and their 2002 single "Já É" became a national hit. The band's lineup includes Walace on vocals, Leandro Lehart on vocal percussion, and instrumentalists on cavaquinho, tan-tan, surdo, and tamborim.
In 2006, founding member and songwriter Leandro Sapucahy died in a bus accident. The band has also faced controversies involving drug use and violence allegations, which led to canceled shows. They released albums like "Coração Aberto" in 2003, "Alma Brasileira" in 2005, and "Novo Tempo" in 2008.
