Grupo Turma da Cachaça

Grupo Turma da Cachaça came together in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s, with Luiz Carlos da Silva and Marcelo Augusto da Silva handling vocals and songwriting, Anderson Bispo Ribeiro on percussion, and Rafael da Silva on drums. Their sound mixed samba, funk, and hip-hop in a way that caught on quickly in the city's streets.

Their track "Nada de Entender" became something of an anthem when it came out in 2003, and they followed it with albums like Nosso Sangue and Ao Vivo no Morro do Alemão. Another song, "Sem Essa," kept their momentum going. The lyrics often touched on inequality and daily struggles in Brazil, which sometimes drew criticism for being too direct or political.

They kept touring Brazil and playing internationally, building a steady audience that connected with their straightforward approach. The group released Quatro Estações in 2010 and Nação Zumbi in 2012, staying active through that period without much fuss about their place in the broader scene.
