Guano Apes

Guano Apes formed in Göttingen, Germany in the mid-1990s. Their debut single 'Open Your Eyes' from 1997 became an unexpected hit, reaching the top of charts in several countries. The song's heavy guitars and Sandra Nasić's distinctive vocals gave them a sound that stood out from other German rock bands at the time.

That debut album was called 'Proud Like a God,' and they followed it with 'Don't Give Me Names' in 2000. The band's lineup stayed consistent with Nasić on vocals, Henning Rümenapp on guitar, Stefan Ude on bass, and Dennis Poschwatta on drums. They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out albums like 'Walking on a Thin Line' and 'Bel Air.'

Songs like 'Lords of the Boards' and 'Rain' showed their range, moving between aggressive rock and more melodic territory. They stopped working together in 2005, though they did reunite briefly for a final album called 'Offline' in 2011. For a few years in the late 90s and early 2000s, they were one of the more visible German rock bands internationally.
