Gugun Power Trio formed in the 1970s in Bandung, Indonesia, with Gugun A.S. on guitar and vocals, Fajar Satritama on drums, and Roni Harahap on bass. They put out their self-titled debut album in 1977. Their sound mixed Indonesian rhythms with rock, which didn't always sit easily with either mainstream or underground listeners at the time.
They released several albums through the 1980s, including 'Trampled Rose' in 1982. Other records from that period include 'Badai Pasti Berlalu' in 1984 and 'Dunia Batu' in 1987.
Gugun A.S.'s guitar work and singing anchored the trio's sound, supported by Satritama's drumming and Harahap's bass. They kept playing and recording through that decade, building a following with their live shows and records.
