Archive material and source history
Guilherme Castro is a Brazilian singer and songwriter from Florianópolis. He started writing songs early, drawing from samba and bossa nova rhythms he grew up with, as well as influences like Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan.
His debut album 'Simplesmente' came out in 2010, but it was his 2013 follow-up 'Passaporte' that brought wider attention. The single 'Saturday Night' from that album became his breakthrough track, reaching chart success in Brazil.
He's released several albums since then, including 'Maré' in 2016, 'Calendário' in 2019, and 'Versões' in 2021. He performs with a band that includes Vinicius Louzada on bass and Pedro Lobo on drums, and has worked with other Brazilian artists like Ney Matogrosso and Marcelo Camelo.
