Gummy Bär

Gummy Bär started as a project for the German label Edel Records in 2006. Music executive Holger Klemmstein brought together songwriters and producers to create a catchy tune for a candy brand, which became "I Am Your Gummy Bear." The lead vocals were handled by Oliver Petszokat, with various backing vocalists and musicians contributing to the live performances.

That song became a global hit, reaching number one in over thirty countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The band released other tracks like "Osito gominola" and "Sabes Que Es Navidad," but none matched the success of their initial single. They faced a legal dispute over the use of the "Gummy Bear" name, which they successfully defended.

Some critics dismissed the music as overly commercial, but the simple, playful appeal of songs like "Ich bin Dein Gummibär" and "Je m'appelle Funny Bear" connected with a wide audience. The project's output was defined by that one sugary earworm and its various international versions.
