Gun Barrel formed in London in 2003 with Alex James on vocals and guitar, Marcus Brown on bass, and Sam Wilson on drums. They put out their first album, 'In the Shadow of Doubt,' in 2006. The band's sound was heavy rock with lyrics that often dealt with darker themes.
Their song 'Tomorrow Never Comes' got some attention for its subject matter, which touched on loss and despair. It's one of their better-known tracks, along with others like 'Back To Suicide' and 'Bloody Pretender.' They released several more albums over the next decade, including 'The Fires Within' in 2009 and 'Burn the Bridges' in 2012.
By 2015 they'd put out 'Blood of the Damned,' and the core lineup of James, Brown, and Wilson stayed together through those recordings. Their music didn't shy away from difficult topics, which sometimes drew mixed reactions, but it found an audience that connected with that direct approach.
