Archive material and source history
Gustavo Cordera started out playing bass and singing backing vocals for the punk rock band Los Abuelos de la Nada in the late 1970s. He left that group in 1982 and put out his first solo album, 'Transformación,' two years later. That record moved away from punk toward something more introspective.
His 1993 album 'Soy Mi Soberano' gave him his biggest hit with the title track.
He kept recording over the following decades, with albums like 'Canciones del Almanaque' in 1999, a live set from the Teatro Opera in 2005, 'Cordera Eléctrica' in 2013, and 'La Caravana Mágica' in 2018. For live shows, he was often backed by musicians including guitarist Claudio Marciello, drummer Fernando Samalea, bassist Alejandro Terán, and keyboardist Nicolás Rainone.
