Guy was an American R&B trio that formed in the late 1980s with Aaron Hall, Teddy Riley, and Timmy Gatling. Their debut album in 1988 included the track 'Groove Me,' which helped establish their sound. Teddy Riley's production work was already gaining attention for what would later be called new jack swing, and Guy's music reflected that blend of R&B with hip-hop rhythms.

Their biggest commercial success came with 'Let's Chill,' which reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song appeared on their self-titled first album, though it's sometimes misremembered as coming later. They followed up with 'The Future' in 1990 and 'Guy III' in 1992, maintaining a consistent output during those years.

Personal issues and a legal dispute with their label MCA Records in 1991 created difficulties for the group. They managed to release their third album despite these challenges, but activity slowed afterward. Songs like 'Tellin' Me No' and 'Dancin'' from their catalog continued to get play on R&B stations even as the group became less active.
