H5N1 formed in São Paulo during the late 2000s, drawing from punk, rock, and Brazilian popular music. Their 2011 album 'Ajuda da Vó Lourdes' brought them wider attention, with the title track becoming something of a protest song. They followed it with 'Por Nós' in 2014 and 'O Mundo É Nosso' in 2017.
Early on, they played in underground clubs and squats, where their shows occasionally ran into trouble with authorities. The band includes Rafael 'Rafinha' Almeida on vocals, Fernando 'Fernandinho' Souza on guitar, Márcio 'Marcão' Silva on bass, and Gabriel 'Gabi' Santos on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
