Haindling

Haindling is the musical project of Hans-Jürgen Buchner, a singer-songwriter from Bavaria who started performing in the 1980s. He was a psychiatric nurse before turning to music, playing local bars and festivals with a guitar and a voice that felt both direct and quietly thoughtful. In 1991, his album 'Nachtclub' included the song '3 × 3 = 9,' which became a hit in Germany.

That song's straightforward, hopeful tone connected with a wide audience, and Buchner followed it with albums like 'Bayern' in 1993. His music draws from Bavarian folk traditions but incorporates rock and pop elements, avoiding a purely traditional sound. The band's lineup has included bassist Michael Braun, drummer Reinhold Hoffmann, and guitarist Norbert Gälle alongside Buchner.

Buchner sometimes addressed social or political topics in his lyrics, which occasionally stirred discussion. In 1994, his song 'Du Depp' drew criticism for its pointed lyrics about politicians. He kept writing and recording through the 1990s and 2000s, with albums such as 'Wilderer' in 1997 and 'Filzlaus' in 2003. Other songs like 'Achtung Achtung' and 'Ber Alle Meere' appear among his more familiar work.
