Haircut 100's debut single 'Love Plus One' was a bright, catchy hit that defined their early sound. Their 1983 album 'Pelican West' included tracks like 'Favourite Shirt' and 'Baked Bean,' capturing the melodic pop of the early 1980s. Even after Heyward left in 1985, songs like 'Love's Got Me In Triangles' kept their catalog alive.

The band formed in 1981 with Nick Heyward on vocals and guitar. They released 'Pelican West' in 1983, but Heyward departed in 1985, and Alistair Gordon took over for one more album before they disbanded in 1987.
