Haiwanna formed in Lyon, France in the late 1980s with Dominique A on vocals, Pierre Belleville on guitar, and Frédéric Lo on bass. They released four studio albums between 1991 and 1998, starting with "La Folie" in 1991 and ending with "Les Fils du Soleil" in 1998.
Their 1993 song "Valisere" became their most recognizable track, appearing on the album "Les Inconnus." Other songs like "De Volta Ao Passado," "João o Otário," and "Malena" show the range of their catalog.
The band dissolved in the late 1990s, after which Dominique A pursued solo work while Belleville and Lo continued in music. Their recordings from the 1990s remain in circulation.
