His career took off in 1979 with the release of his debut album, which featured the song 'Oj Zefire.' That track became widely popular for its haunting melody and emotional lyrics. Another well-known song of his is 'Sarajevo.'
During the Bosnian War in the 1990s, Bešlić left his home and lived abroad for several years. He kept performing during that time. In more recent years, some have questioned his connections to certain political figures, but he has maintained a following.
