A Finnish project formed in 2012 that explores shadowy, atmospheric territory across three albums.
For a good sense of their sound, 'Severed Eyes' and 'Mirrors' both show that atmospheric approach. 'My Mistake' with Heike Langhans adds another layer to it.
Hallatar's music occupies that specific space where atmosphere and melancholy meet, with songs like 'Severed Eyes' and 'Mirrors' showing how they build those shadowed realms. They've maintained that approach across their three albums, from 'Whispers of the Shadowed Realm' through to 2021's 'Ascension'. It's consistent work that doesn't stray from what they do well.
The band formed in Finland in 2012 with Antti Hyyrynen, Tuomas Holopainen, and Mikko Salo. They released their debut single 'Dreams Burn Down' in 2015, followed by their first album the next year, and have put out two more since.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
