Archive material and source history
Hamilton Park formed in Los Angeles in the early 1970s with brothers David and Phillip Hamilton, Ricky West, and Walter Scott. They signed with Motown Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1975. That album included "Piece of My Love," which became a major R&B hit.
Their time at Motown was complicated by a legal dispute over royalties. David Hamilton left the band at one point, and the group faced various personal and professional challenges through the 1980s.
In the late 1990s, the remaining members reunited and recorded the album "Back in the Game" in 2000. They continued performing and released live recordings like "Live in Atlanta" in 2002.
