A Swedish band that's been building straightforward anthems since the late '90s.
For a sense of their sound, 'Let The Hammer Fall' and 'The Champion' frame it well, heavy, melodic, and built to play loud.
HammerFall's 1997 debut 'Glory to the Brave' set the template for their sound, with songs like 'Let The Hammer Fall' and 'Heeding The Call' becoming early staples. They've kept that heavy riff and melodic vocal approach across thirteen studio albums, from 'Legacy of Kings' in 1998 to 'Dominion' in 2019. Tracks like 'The Champion' are built for live shows, and the band's lineup has held steady through changes, including bassist Fredrik Larsson performing while battling cancer until his death in 2018.
Formed in Gothenburg in 1993, HammerFall released 'Glory to the Brave' in 1997. Guitarist Pontus Norgren joined in 2008, and they've put out albums steadily, with the current lineup including vocalist Joacim Cans and guitarist Oscar Dronjak.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
