Hanazawa Kae is best known for singing "Sailor Star Song," which came out in 1996 and became popular as an anime theme. She worked with keyboardist Ohkuma Ken'ichi and guitarist Nishizawa Hiroyasu in a three-member band.
Her music has appeared in other anime series like "Full Moon wo Sagashite" and "Revolutionary Girl Utena." In 2003, she left her record label to go independent, which caused some talk at the time.
She won an Animage Anime Grand Prix Award for Best Female Singer. Beyond "Sailor Star Song," she released other singles such as "Watashi Tachi o Shinjite" and "Kono Yo de Ichiban Chiisana Uta."
