Editor's note

Hangar's heavy metal from Porto Alegre

Brazilian progressive metal band with eight studio albums since their 1997 debut.

For their mix of heavy and progressive, try 'The Garden' or 'A Letter From 1997 (MHJ)'. Both show what they do well.

Hangar's songs like 'The Garden' show how they blend heavy metal with progressive elements and introspective lyrics. They've maintained a consistent presence through lineup changes while keeping their core sound intact. Their cover of Queen's '39' shows their range within the metal framework.

Formed in Porto Alegre in the early nineties with guitarist Cristiano Wortmann and drummer Rodrigo Oliveira. After vocalist Aquiles Priester left in 1999, Andre Matos from Angra briefly joined before the current lineup solidified. They've released eight studio albums including 'Apocalyptic Intent' in 2006 and 'Infallible' in 2014.
