Hans Theessink

Hans Theessink is a Dutch blues musician who started playing in the 1970s. He was born in Enschede in 1948 and got into blues early, listening to Muddy Waters and B.B. King. His first album, 'Delta Time,' came out in 1976. He's recorded songs like 'Hesitation Blues' and 'Rolling Stone' from his long list of releases.

He's put out more than forty albums over the decades, including 'Blues Trip' in 1984 and 'Big Swamp' in 1996. Theessink has worked with other musicians like John Lee Hooker and Taj Mahal, and he's played regularly with drummer Coen Herfst and bassist Tjeerd Klapwijk. His version of 'Hesitation Blues,' a song originally by Tommy Johnson, is one people often mention.

In 2019, Theessink drew some criticism for comments about Dutch immigration policy. He's still known mainly as a European blues player with a deep catalog and a straightforward approach to the music.
