Hantaoma

Hantaoma formed in Barcelona in 1994, with Ahiara on vocals, Juan on guitar, Raul on bass, and Javier on drums. They started playing small venues around the city, developing their sound through those early shows. Their debut album came out in 1998, titled 'Malombra' after the lead track, which became their first notable song.

That album established their approach, which mixed flamenco phrasing with rock arrangements and some electronic touches. They followed it with records like 'Azul Oscuro' in 2001 and 'Amanecer' in 2005. Songs like 'Cançon Dels Segaires' and 'La Ronda Dels Morts' show their style, melodic but with a dark, driving undercurrent.

They worked with other artists occasionally, including Enrique Morente and Caetano Veloso. Later albums like 'El Veneno de los Sueños' from 2010 continued in a similar vein. The band's catalog has stayed in circulation, with tracks like 'Vent Follet' and 'Negra Sason' still getting play on Spanish alternative radio.
