Hard Do formed in Nazaré with siblings Rui on guitar and vocals, Paulo on bass, and Nuno on drums. They started playing in a garage, developing a sound that mixed hard rock and progressive elements. Their first album, "Não É Um Lugar Bonito Para Morrer," came out in 2001.
They followed that with "Pedaços" in 2005 and "Aquilo Que Passou" in 2009. The title track from that last album became one of their most recognizable songs, along with "Uma Noite Sem Você" and "Só Você." Some listeners found their approach too heavy, but they kept working with the same intensity.
Hard Do's music stayed rooted in Portuguese rock, avoiding mainstream polish. They didn't chase trends, which gave their records a consistent, unvarnished feel. You can hear it in songs like "BPM" and "Teoria Relativa Sobre o Fim", direct, guitar-driven rock that doesn't soften its edges.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
